I help families create individualized education and behavior plans to help a child successfully learn with his/her peers.
If you are here, you are probably in the trenches of figuring out what is best for your child, especially when it comes to their education.
Your child is capable. They are so smart. They just learn differently. But they are struggling with simple tasks like bringing their homework home, sitting in their chair, working in a group, keeping their hands to themselves on the playground, not completing their classwork so they do not get to enjoy recess, this list may go on and on.
You are frustrated, teachers are frustrated, and your child is frustrated. You may be feeling like "we just don't know what to do anymore!"
You are NOT alone, and you are not meant to do this alone. An individual plan (IEP or 504 plan) can be created that works for everyone, so that your child can be successful right alongside his peers.
Let me walk with you to provide the IEP help you need through IEP consultation and coaching by collaboratively working with your child's IEP/504 or school team.
Sign up here to receive IEP help and tips straight in your inbox!
Interested, wanting to know more, not sure if this is for you? We start with a free 20 minute IEP consultation to discuss your top 3 concerns. Giving you an opportunity to ask questions and decide if our partnership will be beneficial for your child.
Needing another set of eyes on your child's IEP?
I will review the IEP and then we will meet for a 30 minute consultation for me to provide feedback and you to ask questions.
Have an upcoming IEP? Feeling nervous, overwhelmed, frustrated? We will prepare together to help you advocate for your child. I will review the documentation you have, we meet for an hour to discuss worries, concerns, and challenges. During this IEP consultation we will write a Parent Input Statement and a recommended agenda to send the IEP team before your meeting. You have access to me via email for any last minute questions between our consultation and your meeting. After your IEP meeting, we will consult again for 30 minutes to discuss the outcome of the meeting and future steps to take.
Feeling overwhelmed? Exhausted? Like your child's education is turning into a battle? Feeling unseen? We will develop an action plan together to resolve the issues you are facing. This includes communication with the IEP team-at any time. Preparation for IEP meetings or parent conferences. And collaborative work in developing creative solutions that your child will benefit from now.
Elementary IEP Parent
I'm a special education teacher, military spouse, and mom to 3 little girls. Although not currently in the classroom, special education continues to be my passion. I have always been drawn to the possibilities of special education. I love different, a challenge, and working creatively together for the success of a child. For special education to work the way it was intended, we all have to show up. I can't wait to journey with you to create a unique education plan that works for your child.
Please contact me if you cannot find an answer to your question.
A special education coach journeys with you through your child’s education providing insight and creative solutions to challenges at school and home. A coach supports parents in becoming the greatest advocate for their child by building collaborative relationships with the IEP team to create a truly unique plan that works!
Coaching includes review of all paperwork, clarification of paperwork, and the development of an action plan. We would then collaboratively take steps to implement the action plan for your child. Coaching is about you and your child. Wherever you are, that is where we start. Some examples of collaborative work include-developing a parent input statement for an IEP, writing letters to the IEP team about concerns/needs of the child, educating parents in their rights and role at the IEP table, developing creative solutions for challenges faced at home or school.
Parents of children with an IEP, 504, in the evaluation process, or struggling at school. Parents struggling to have a voice at the IEP table. Parents struggling with a transition (or simply gearing up for a transition and would like a better outcome than the past).
